First Buzz of the new year!
Jan. 14, 2003

Here it is: the first Weekly Buzz of the new year. And don't feel the need to point out that "weekly" is in the title, so this should technically be the second Buzz of the year. I know, I know.  I can do one of two things to rectify this current situation where I can't seem to meet the deadline. The first is to actually write the editorials once a week and the second is the lazier approach—the "Chris Approach," if you will—where I can simply axe "weekly" from the name. All of a sudden, boom, I'm never late 'cause I'm on my own schedule. Guess which one I chose (hint: the latter). Yep. They didn't call me a nerd in high school* for nothin', kids. I got brains coming out of my ass. Er ... wait ...

So The Weekly Buzz looks to be reverting back to its original name, The Buzz. But that's by no means official. If it were, you would see a different logo. I was also thinking about The Written Buzz. Lame? I'm hoping you readers can come up with something better for a column about animation and art.  If so, drop me an e-mail or post it here. Who knows?  If I go with your idea, maybe you and your art-related project will be the topic of a future Buzz or Bonus Buzz. Yes, this has just become an unofficial contest.

This year, Animated Buzz is going to become bigger and better. Believe me, there are many ideas on the table to help this site expand and become an extremely interactive environment for artists and art fans alike. I would divulge some of these, but Mario might slit my throat Splinter-Cell style while I'm sleeping. We have to keep our ideas under wraps for now, but I could give you a sneak peak at what's to come in the column soon to be formerly known as The Weekly Buzz.

Still on its way is the multiple-part series on Disney's urban legends. Ooh, how mysterious, huh? That'll be some good stuff!  But before that, we're sticking with the new year theme a bit longer.  Next week, it's a look back at 2002, the big news and the disappointments. After that, we're going to talk to Animated Buzz owner Mario to figure out just what we can reveal about the future of this site.

Stay tuned.

* No one ever really called be a nerd in high school.  Seriously. No ... seriously.
