    • Hello, I'm Briana Uchendu, and I would like to connect with everyone through other forms of social media as well. It's a bit difficult to post all of my recent art here so I will link my tumblr and instagram, and encourage anyone who is reading this to do the same! @mukodiri and  I've only been on animated buzz for a little while but i think it's a great and supportive community, welcome to animatedbuzz!

    • Thanks! Yes, you know how it is - ONE MAN BAND :) Freelance work.

Sometimes it is quite stresfull, beside that you have short deadlines you must do everything - the entire pipeline:)

Here is my gorgeus, attractive, unforgetable animation. More visualization :) I made it long time ago when I start studiying 3D and animation - LINK

    • Welcome to animatedbuzz!  Always nice to add more Europeans to the community haha.  Nice commercial work!  Looks like you have a solid grasp of the entire CG process

    • Hi everyone,

Another european on forum :) Yes I'm rather new in animation world and I'm still learning and there is a lot of stuff waiting to conquer. I made some short and simple animated commercials but nothing special so I would really like to break into industry...right now I'll start with new training. I think it's worh trying.

It's called Moviemakin from great animator and director Mike Murphy (LINK to his workshop). I watched some of his older videos and were great. He really knows the industry. So I'm really excited to start with this workshop and to learn something new.

And one of my animation I worked on - modeling, rigging, texturing, rendering,... - everything made by me :)

    • Hello!

My name is Kurtis andI have been working on the animation side of the video game industry for over ten years.  I earned a B.S. in computer science from The Art Institute of California - Orange County, with a focus on media arts and animation in 2003.  I've been lucky enough to work on beautifully detailed pre-rendered movies and epic

I currently work at Blizzard Entertainment and I've been lucky enough to work on beautifully detailed pre-rendered movies and epic fast-paced video games over these years and it's my goal for my website to hopefully inspire and give a deeper insight into this art medium called: "animation".

      The Broken Tangent

My hope is that this website will become an animation labyrinth filled with professional and personal works.  Along with general articles about the industry and behind the scenes write ups and videos about the animation process.  In the future, I plan to add a podcast to this as well.  Here's to hoping!

Stay tuned and thank you for visiting!

    • My name is Lynette. I am considering applying to animation schools this year. My interest in art sparked when I took a recreational life drawing class as a STEM student. Drawing really changed my life. Having an addictive personality, I wanted to improve and pursue the career. I hope to improve and network here!!

One thing you should know about me is that I am extremely bad at using forums and social media  I forget to post and respond all the time  I've spent a couple hours lurking and trying to figure out how anything works  Posting from mobile certainly doesn't help

Here are some of my favorite gesture drawings I did as of late

    • Hi!! So I found this site because I am interested in 3D animation but always had a nostalgic interest for 2D animation. I'm here to get inspiration from peers and trade knowledge with you guys. I have a BFA in Photography but changed my direction and interests in art sense then. I'm self educated with most of my drawing and all of my Animation. I know I lack in my portfolio around the figure drawing and animation areas which are still 2D, so those are my focuses. Here is some of my work @ my email is I'd like to get into contact and see work from some of you that work on this type of stuff!

I have a BFA in photography but I am more interested in Animation and self taught in Drawing and Animation. We should talk because I do feel like im in your shoes on quite a few subjects you bring up. I followed you on twitter, heres some of my work- We should chat and see if we can help each other out.

    • Hello everyone,

My name is Christopher Birnbaum. I'm a 2D artist and animator, hoping to continue growing in my skills and work on the story side of animation wherever I can. I'm from Lexington, Kentucky, and I went to a local university studying film. I'm mostly self taught in art and animation.

Some of my best work is here: I can upload stuff directly here later, but I don't have the hard drive with me at the moment.

I've been looking for an art/animation community for a while because I didn't really get that in school. It really helps to have friends going through similar things and who can help encourage you along the way in the journey. I could also use your tips too! I've had to blunder a lot into learning what I have.

My dreams are to work in animation and storytelling through art. I love storyboarding and storytelling, and I love animation and cartoons. I would love to work on a cartoon series, but would also enjoy working on films.

My main challenges I'm facing are the lack of work around here, not having much of a portfolio since I didn't go to a school that helped me build out my animation porftolio, and my lack of connections. My hope is to eventually move out to LA, but for now I feel a bit alone out here in KY.

Hope to be friends with anyone who is willing. Contact me anytime :D

    • Hello everyone, my name is Volodymyr and I'm 26 year old and leaving in Ukraine, Lviv. So i felt into 3d animation about one with a half year ago, kind a funny situation, didn't even thought that games will change someone or my life but this happend, i was playing warframe and during that i wanted to just look for some cinematics to this game, so I start to search over the youtube and find out that there is not that much as i was thinking and got a thought in my head - 'It would be cool if they create more of it or someone could make some funmade trailers, and after that, second thought just poped into my head 'hmmm, and why that someone can't be me'. Of course some thoughts about it wasn't leaving me for couple months, such as i don't know how to draw and my uni degree is far away from animation or even art, but i really wanted to became animator. And from that time i started to dive into 3d animation. I didn't know much about CG industry, so soon i found that, well, for creating animation i need some rigs and stuff, but those free rigs which is avaible on internet didn't get my attention, so with animation i start learning rigging. So my goal is to became a pro in 3d character animation, and mostly i liked game animation, simple ))
Nowadays i'm freelance rigger and animator and got some stuff which i done and here they are:

P.S. English is not my native language, sorry if I made mistakes

Hello everyone! I'm Enza Recchia a nineteen years old girl, from the South of Italy, with a great sense of humor and lack of self control over fictional characters. I've been writing since i was a kid but my love for both 3D and 2D animation started in my early teens with two series /not made by Disney or others/ Red vs Blue and RWBY by Roosther Teeth and the amazing Monty Oum.
Oum's work and determination really influenced me trough the years and saved me from giving up on everything.
He made me realize that with passion, determination and lot of hard work i could achive my dream and make it come true. He made me belive in myself and this gave me self confidence and happiness. He was my mentor.
I'm really greatful and i will never forget what he has done for me. My dreamjob is to work for Roosther Teeth both as a writer, 3D animator and concept artist! I know the path wont be straigh but i wont give up!

    • Hi, I'm Rory. I'm from Ohio, and I've been animating for a couple of years now. My favorite cartoon of all time is Ed, Edd, 'n' Eddy, currently a big fan of Bojack Horseman and Rick & Morty. I want to work for televsion and make a show for Cartoon Network or Nikelodeon some day. My challenge right now is getting better at animating. I really need to work on walk cycles and lip syncing. Here's some art that I've done:

Hope to get some helpful feedback and meet new animators here!

    • Hi everybody !

      My name is Clémence, I'm 18 and I am a Frenchie :)

Who am I  ?  What are my goals ?

No surprise, my ultimate goal is to fulfill my dream of working in the animation industry  because it is my "raison d'être". I'd like to work on all kind of film, everywhere in the world, from small to big studios...I am open to everything!

I want to enter the Gobelins animation school in Paris since I am young even if it's hard to.  I want to prove myself I can do it!

However it is a very difficult task considering that I don't have enough money to pay prepatory classes ...

and I live in the deep countryside, making it even more difficult to find things such as art store and figure drawing classes !

But no matter, I rely on passion and motivation :)

For the moment I am studying Multimedia at university (because it's free yeah. And I love learning no matter what, so I am not losing my time).

I must learn drawing and anything else that animation schools require by myself, with the help of books and Internet (the holy grail). In addition I have 3h of figure drawing per week since september, but can't pay for more weekly hours unfortunatly.

what challenges am  I facing ?

SO  MANY. The biggest one is the fact that I am alone in practising drawing, and on a long term it can be frustrating.

I need support.  That is why I came here!

I would appreciate so much to talk with other passionate, to have others views on what I am doing but also looking at others' works.

Entering a community would be a big step forward for me. I am!

You can find some of my drawing there :

I think I said it all...  (sorry in advance if some of my sentences sound weird...English is not my native language as you might have guess ahah)

      Thanks for reading  !

      Salut! :D

(For anyone interested, Me and Maxus both know eachother from a minecraft animation community, when i heard he also wanted to do animation as a job i invited him here :P)

Have a nice stay man ;)!

    • Yup ^.^ i'm self taught, currently working for 5 studios at the moment, 2 of which i got a job offering from instead of applying for

    • December 1, 2016 3:42 AM PST
    • Hi Maxus! You're welcome!

14 only? Wow! I have seen your works and I have to say they are amazing. Did you learn 3D modelling/animation by yourself?

You're on the right track to achieve your goals. Keep working hard and learning. I want to read your name in the credits of next Dreamworks' movies! :)

    • December 1, 2016 1:38 AM PST
    • Hello to everyone! i'm maxus (not my real name) and i'm a 14 year old aspiring animator. my first ever 3d animation that i've watched as a kid were the incredibles, i've been fascinated by CGI and 3d animation ever since.. i'm currently an animator with 5-6 years of experience (Believable, i know.. but it's true XD)

my goals are to either get into pixar or dreamworks, i'm leaning over to dreamworks because they like to implement lots of realism and jokes as much as possible.

      erm some of my work?

i'm not really that good but feel free to look at the gyazos and the links that i've provided

Here are some finished projects that i've worked on (just did animation, on 1 or 2 scenes, i'll list down the timings on what scenes are mine)

11-40 seconds (first ever project i've worked on for this studio, it was amazing working with them XD)

      39 - 59 seconds

some of the challenges i'm facing currently?

Erm, not much :) just hardware issues since i animate on a laptop

      That's it pretty much!

i really like this site so far XD

    • Hello,

My name is David and I am an animator. I grew up in the greater los angeles area. Ive lived in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, and now Oslo, Norway. I am learning norwegian and working fora norwegian animation company at the moment. Ive worked a few projects in the US but my wife is norwegian and a chance came up to move to Norway and we took it.

This is a small shot I am currently working on. here I have been dragging my feet on it, not sure its totally working yet but hopefully I can finish it before the end of the year. Not exactly sure why I made it a gif and not just an movie file, ill make the next one a movie file.

My goals well im not really sure I think thats why I am here. i am feel a bit goal-less. I think id like to push myself to create something my own with the skills ive gained over the past 5 years of animating. Plus in Norway there arent very many animation jobs so being a generalist is sort of key. Right not i only have a passing understanding of rigging, modeling, lighting, texturing, and rendering. Plus id also like to try my hand at actually writing some sort of dialogue.

My main challenge is life is laziness or procrastination that plus guilt causes by laziness and procrastination. Living in Norway with little interest in moving back to LA permanently makes me feel that getting any better at animating really doesnt give me a leg up job wise. So I am just sort of coasting at the moment. But life is to short to coast, just need some motivation to make something, anything.

Right well i guess thats where you all come in. I look forward to seeing your work and getting your feedback. I think see other people create cool and interesting things makes everyone more motivated. Also just cool to be around a group of english speaking creative types making their own stuff. Norway is cool but it is ever so slightly lacking when it comes to work culture at least compared to the work cultures ive experience in LA and Dallas. Right well you all keep up the awesome and ill see you all around on the site.

    • Cool! so you also saw the sneak peak to there new animation? with the heads stuck in that cement mixer?

And yeah i learn allot through youtube, forums like this and trail and error, i think some art skills would eventualy help out, since being creative also helps when animating (for my expirience)

My persional goal is to work at disney one day, as a character animator, or mabye lighting artist (almost certain that i want to go for character animator tho)

Thats a cool site! most studios only take interns with high school graduation, which due my age i dont have yet :/, i'll look into it tho!

The biggest struggle i have rightnow is that there aren't that many online assests that work good out there, like rigs, scenes and ect. so that why im currently foccusing on that, so that i could later use that for animation practice!

Also a reason im going for a art accedemy instead of a technical studie is because there aren't that many technical ones in the netherlands, but the internet is a great resource anyway :P

    • November 28, 2016 6:18 AM PST
    • I was there too at Klik last year, I also saw the Job, Joris en Marieke panel :)

I studied Art & Technology at Saxion University in Enschede but the name is a little bit misleading, it should've been called: "media and technology" ;) it was a very experimental program and in the end I learned a little bit of everything. Which was not very useful... Most of what I apply at work now is the stuff I tought myself by looking up tutorials on Youtube.

I think a preliminary training for Artez can be a good choice. But my experience with art schools is that they value the art way more than the technology. That is great if you want to learn how to make amazing illustration work but it won't be of use for companies like Disney/Pixar/Dreamworks. Most of the work that goes into making 3D animation requires a lot of technical skill. They have specialized jobs for everything. For example a group of 10 animators working on only the hair of the main characters. Another 10 people are working on their eyes, skin, facial expressions, body movements etc.

Take a look at this link: Here you can see the skills that are in demand at animation studios. Almost all of them are in England or the USA but the same skills still apply in the Netherlands.

If I were you I'd start making a list of interesting companies you would like to work for. See if they hire interns (stagiairs) and consider doing an internship (stage) there while studying. I think that is your best bet to get into the animation industry. But I don't think you can do it if you live in the Netherlands so you might have to travel to America or England for it. Just do a lot of preparation work and study what kind of animation stuff they want to see in your work. The basic principles of animation need to be there.

Here is a link to internships at Pixar and Disney. You still have plenty of time to prepare for something like that when you start going to college:

    • Hey Hans! thanks, im persionaly really into the disney type 3d CG animation, but i also love 2d shows like gravity falls!

Last year i went to Klik! to see job joris and marieke, i also went to the moviezone talent day, which sadly dind had anything about animation last year.

I watch allot of twitch streams where people make animations, i often ask questions there once i cant figure something out!

Im currently aiming for a school like HKU or Artez, im currently doing a preliminary training at artez, but what school did you go to?

Ive gotten allot of programs; maya,cinema4d,flash,blender,houdini ect. just so that if i have to switch for a production or just feel like another program would work better for now i could :P

Book wise, im getting the animations survival kit for christmas, and im still looking into a couple book's people suggested here on the forums,

Thanks for the info, it really helps!

      Have a nice day, Tijmen

    • November 28, 2016 4:13 AM PST
    • Hi Tijmen,

Welcome to the site, which animated movies do you like most of all? And do you like 2D or 3D animation?

I'm sort of in the same situation as you except I've already graduated and have some working experience, that's why I'm giving you advice I think you can use:

      - Go to animation festivals. A few examples in the Netherlands are Klik! animation festival and Playgrounds festival. They often have talks with animators from disney, pixar etc. where they allow you to ask questions.

      - Go and ask some experienced animators about their work. I've contacted Mike van Rossum last week (Holland Animatie), he gave me some great advice. All I had to do was ask him.

      - Don't rely on schools to teach you animation, you got to learn it by doing it. So make sure you get the right tools and software.

      - Some books I think you should read if you have the chance: Animator's Survival Guide and Directing the story.

      Good luck!

    • Hello everyone, my name is Hans. I am a freelance 2D animator from the Netherlands. Most of my work is short and simple explanimation video's and cartoons. I'm experimenting a little bit with animation and illustration styles. I've done whiteboard video's, advanced puppet rigs in After Effects, 3D animation in Cinema4D and chromakey productions (weatherman effect on a greenscreen).

Visit my portfolio on the following link, it's in Dutch:

I've studied Art & Technology on saxion university of applied sciences in Enschede. Now I'm making my own unique career as a freelance 2D animator. Unfortunately there isn't a lot of work here that's why I'm trying to broaden my horizons a little bit and get in touch with other people who are animating. My ultimate goal is to specialize in character animation and design.

I'm currently working on a pilot for an animated TV series and taking on little projects on the side while teaching myself new ways of using animation.

The style of animation I like the most is this:

    • Hi everyone! My name is Irène K, I'm an animator from Spain and I'm really excited to meet this great community. I was looking for something like this for long!

Space Sense from Irène K on Vimeo.

Since I was a kid, I have loved drawing, reading comics, watching animation movies and cartoon series so when I grew up, I decided to study arts. Today, I'm a freelance animator-illustrator, interested in motion graphics and animated comics. I work with After Effects, Flash and Blender. My funniest animation works at the moment are some commercial videos for an alimentation company.

      You can see it here:

My dream is to build a studio to produce cartoon series and feature films. My next challenge is to make a cartoon web serie. What's more, I'm working on it's preproduction now!

If you want to know something else about me, pleased feel free to ask me. I also hope I can help to grow this community and, otherwise, meet artists with the same interests
