    And Disney/Pixar for the win...

I can't see the Academy giving Toy Story 3 the win for Best picture; thus, Best animated feature will have to do.

I'm surprised Tangled didn't make it up there.

Yeah me too, I want to root for The Illustionist even though I haven't seen it I just love Sylvain Chomet so much!! He is very experimental

Ohh you should get on chat so we can talk about the EA program

I am actually kind of rooting for How to Train Your Dragon...I mean, I adored TS3 with all my heart, and it was wonderfully done, but pixar cleans up every year and HTTYD was so amazing....especially for a studio that released Shrek 4 to theaters in the same year. I think it would set a good impression that we like original movies, and sequels, while they can be successful like TS3, should be treated very carefully, and not churned out like cheeseburgers at McDonalds.
Then again, I'm hardly one to understand the inner-workings or executive decisions at any animation studio. Still though....it was fantastic

I mean TS3 is going to win i'm pretty sure

I can't wait to watch the shorts, every year a tiny theater in my town gets them and i always go

I'll decide who I want to win after and post it on here

Really happy to see the Gruffalo up on the list!

and I had no idea The Lost Thing had been finshed, gonna have to check it out.

Maybe we should all cast our votes for who WE want to win. I think it's so unfair that the Oscar voting members are not required to have seen ALL the films before voting. That is so unfair to the small films that may be harder to see.

I haven't seen the Illustionist but i'd vote for it since I love Sylvain Chomet's style SOO much

wait....really? They're not required to see all the films? That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard of. How can you judge a group of films if you haven't even seen them all??
  • January 28, 2011 8:59 AM PST
Yup. I was pretty pissed when I first found that out and if you think about it, Majority always kinda wins like a big movie that you know everyone went to see. That's why I feel bad for the foreign film category and the short films

How to Train Your Dragon better win so help me god, or i have no faith in the world! haha That is the dark horse film this year and it totally deserves the oscar. Dreamworks is finally making good films and lets be honest with ourselves, Dragon was much better than Toy Story 3, however i didnt see the illusionist. and I think tangled deserved a nod, though it wouldnt have won up against the noms they currently got.

I wish the illusionist would win sooo bad!!!

I added links, I think 3 are trailers the rest are the whole films. Madagascar will win! At least i Think it will..Roger Ebert predicted that too. It seems like a winner

That's a link to a full version of "The Lost Thing." I think it's absolutely magical. I loved it. Pixar's still bound to win, though, because "Day & Night" was brilliant.

I really like the gruffalo one, followed by night and day :)

Yeah I think Madagascar and Day and Night may have been the best. Day and Night made me cry..but i'm such a crybaby when it comes to films

Okay, I admit I didn't care for it too much the first time I watched it, but after a few times, there's a lot of very simple ideas and concepts in there that I found to be innovative and wonderful, even if visually I wasn't blown away by first impression like some of the other contenders. What short are you rooting for?

see i loved it the first time, but the more i watch it the more boring it seems to me. its not bad but its not good like other pixar shorts, lifted, presto, one man band, those films are far better than day and night, day and night to me, is just a series of gag with a message slapped on at the end.
