So just one more week of painful waiting. I have a good feeling about Monday :) or who knows maybe even today Good luck again
Here's to hope! I hope that date she gave me was accurate. If it goes beyond next week, I think my head might explode XP

Beyond next week? Don't say such things Mary lol
I'm thinking that we'll find out before good Friday. For some reason I'm leaning towards wednesday, but Monday would be awesome too. Hell, I'd love to find out today haha

I had the most horrible dream last night. I logged onto AB and there was page after page of people who I have never seen on here saying they were accepted into EA and that they all found out on March 5...I got more chill about the wait on the outside, but I guess those anxieties decided to manifest while I was trying to sleep! Damn you anxieties!
Hahaha, I have had a dream similiar too! The suspense is killing all of us xD

Hey guys! Well, the percentage of people who get accepted per year varies, though it averages at around 30-35%. So it's seriously not easy to get in! For the MFA1s this year, there are about 10 (or less, can't remember), and 13 for the BFA1s. All in all, there are about 50 students in the entire EA program, inclusive of BFAs and MFAs. If I'm not mistaken, that is! Matthew, have you not heard back yet?
Hey Jamie! That's cool to hear that the program is small. When I went on a campus tour I met a student named Dylanger in the program and he said it's like a family. :)
At the same time, it's a little discomforting to know that it's small and therefore a lesser chance of getting in >___<
When you say 13 BFA1s, do you mean that's the number of current students in the program or that's the number CalArts accepts each year? Or is there not a solid number for that.
Oh, I'm so glad you guys enjoyed my joke! They are all just as bad :) Gotta thing for bein punny :P I'm in Chicago currently(and have been for FAR too long). So no matter the decision, I'm leaving when my lease is up (end of May). If they decide I'm not ready for the program this year-I'm moving to Denver and focusing on kicking some serious art ass. Otherwise, Valencia it is!! Here's to hoping for the latter.
@Jimena what is "art fun dies" was that autocorrect? Ohhh, material art and design sounds really cool! Is that like designing fabrics or plastics or all "material"? Also if you are interested in fibers and such-take a look at the Book and Paper Center located on the Columbia College Chicago campus. It has one of the largest wet studios (for making paper, pulp, playing with different fibers, etc...) and is just freaking awesome. I took Paper Sculpture there when I was at school there-and holy moly. It made serious impact on me. Here's a link if you wanna look. Victoria and I have been talking about the possibility of coming out over winter break or something and taking a workshop.

lol it was autocorrect I meant art fundamentals its only a one year course and you have life drawing, painting, 3d and perspective drawing it's been fun.
Yes material art and design its basically designing things in textiles, jewerlly, glass, ceramics etc its really cool. BUT nothing like CalArts
I guess the best thing we can do right now is be patient
hey i saw this and thought maybe you guys might find some inspiration from it as well https://vimeo.com/31464974

@mary about the workshop in Columbia College Chicago campus I would love to go and take some classes I love book art :)
Yaaaaay! It's a good place for it. Once you step into that wet sudio...well-my life changed. I could go on forever about how much I love that place. But won't wax on anymore in this thread. ;P Holler for another fiber/paper enthusiast!!
Anyone, feel free to message me if you are curious! <3

Has no one heard back yet?! Isabela and I are still waiting anxiously for news!
Not yet, I think we're all pretty anxious at this point too. We haven't heard anything since the first wave of acceptances and rejections in late February. It seems like the remaining CA guys heard news last wednesday. Hoping that'll be the case with us too.

Rawwrrr! I'm keeping my everything crossed the us remaining EA kids here back this week. I mean the last notification we got said that we should hear back no later than April 8th right? I am checking all forms of communication, my application status online, emails, phone calls, letters and nada enchilada ;(
Raawwrrrrraaaawrrr!!!!! For real!
That's what the lady that answered the phones in admissions told me...don't know if it was a brush off or an actual answer...hoping actual answer.
Wednesday was a day for CA last week, so maybe??? But there is still time left in the day today, which is kinda frustrating cause I can't stop checking until I know they are probably home for the night. Why can't they just be magic and have it all happen instantly?
Now I want enchiladas...
Check your status now. Mine finally changed. I didn't get in.
I don't even know what to say. Very mixed feelings at the moment. Disappointed in Calarts. Definitely walking away a bit jaded.
Looks like I'll be bringing stop motion to Ringling. I think I might take the year off. Finish my Oz fim. See what happens.
I was so sure I was going to get in. There's the wrench in my plans.

Shit, sorry to hear that Matthew, just know Calarts isn't the only way...

oh , so sad to hear that.at least you have already give yourself second try, and it is their loss that don't get you .like you puppet , and looking foward to see more your stop motion
I STILL haven't heard a word. I can't help thinking wether it is because my transcript is missing so they will put my file last one to see or they won't even see it forever!!!!
Thanks everyone. I really appreciate the support. So far, Calarts is the only art school that keeps rejecting me and I'm stubborn enough to keep re-applying. :)
I know I have other options, but they're very limited if I want to continue to study stop motion.
I decided to take the year off. I'm going to get working on my films. Good things happen in 3's. . . I hope haha. 276 days until next years deadline. I'm becoming a battle scarred veteran of the Calarts admission process -- look forward to next year.
Best of luck for those still waiting.
