Allo allo ^^ I had a thread on the old forum and since its been a while I guess it wouldn't hurt to have a new one on here. So I'm a junior in highschool and plan to apply for 2012. I have never had any formal classes or a private teacher or anything, and most likely will not until April, so please bare with me ^^;
The last time someone critiqued my work on the old forum, they said to work on looser lines and anatomy. So hopefully I made some development.
Many of my drawings are either photo ref, observation from school, or studies from the books I read. (such as Vilppu, Hogarth, Hampton) Apparently, highschool students don't have a large range of expressions and movement in public xD thats no fun.

Thank you so much for saying something! I've been going insane everday because I get views but no comments.x3
I completely agree with the un-realistic bit. Thats one of the reasons I wanted an opinion cause I thought they were coming out that way but I wasn't sure. I never thought to go over a loose sketch before...I feel dum xD I think because usually I use pen so the lines are dark to begin with but yeah. You're right.
Hands and feet. Definately. Gotta work on that. Game face on! >:D
Thanks again for commenting ^^ I think I noticed you're applying this year. Good Luck!
Hey Guys and Gals! I just went to my second session of figure drawing yesterday and I just wanted an opinions on my road to improvement ^^
The session was about defining volume in the gesture.

2 min Warm up gestures

Yes, it was rather awkward/stiff in the first ones. I'm learnin'. 5 min for the volume drawings

The red is the instructor making corrections on my execution.

Let me just say, the model I had for yesterday's session had the most amazing moustache xD Classcial french villian style. Including the nicely groomed twirl at the edges.
The instructor kinda ditched us, so it was basically like an open drawing session. We ranged from 2-20 min throughout the three hours. It kinda sucked because there were many times when i wanted advice or had a question (and usually he explains so much I can't think of a single question) but it was also cool because we could work beyond 2 min gestures.
Here's my progress :D Feel free to thrash and bash.

The longer the pose, the more difficult it became D:
I had another 20 min...buutt it came out really messy because I was thinking of shading too much
Here is an update from figure drawing class ^^ The instructor was there this time so I was able to address my concerns on how to work/improve on the figure when we were drawing for a 10-20 min time span. (which he said was an eternity xD)
I feel that I took a wierd step back in this session because lately I've aquired a lot of methods/techniques to approaching a gesture sketch and a long pose and that caused me to think too much and eventually I didn't know how to approach it at all. I'm probably at a strange transition stage where I need to find whats comfortable for me and what I want to show in my drawings :3
I also kept thinking "There are no rules, just tools" xD Vilppu is glued to my brain.

Well I'm done rambling. Once again, feel free to tear apart/crtique/mash/bash/comment on my progress ^^
Oh geez! Its been two months already! o.O Thats scares me because I don't think I've improved as much as I would have liked yet. Only 6 more months gang, til the 2012 application. :o
So here are some of my recent stuff. Comment, critic, mash, bash, and any other synonyms that fit in.

Hey guys! Wow, only 4 months left until the deadline o.O Its really getting into crunch time now.
So I know there are A LOT of problems with this drawing but I also want a second opinion cause my art teach' didn't say much. Its un-proportional for sure and the arm looks pretty mushy. Any other thoughts would be very VERY much appreciated.
I hope everyone is having a fantastic summer by the way. It went by very fast for me.
3 1/2 months til the deadline and less than a month until NPD @ Calarts. No need to panic, right?
This is my update from figure drawing class yesterday. My teacher said I was tightening up (NOOOOO!!) what do you guys think? Any comment or critique is still greatly appreciated! ^^
