Hey everyone, i was wondering if could get an opinion about applying to CalArts
Im 22 and a somewhat recent graduate from a University in Malaysia under the degree of BA Animation, and i have been currently working freelance on small projects.
For the past few month ( well few years if you include highschool senior year and college ) i have been thinking of applying to CalArts, but only one thing has kept me from trying to apply, it was the amount of the tuition ( let alone living expenses overseas ).
Money is a bit of an issue for my side right now, specially adding to the fact even if my parents do support me financially it wouldnt be enough (especially since they are in the age of retirement and all) and personally i dont want to bother them about helping me financially since things have been tight in the budget.
Im willing to try and make a portfolio ( using some of the artwork i have around here plus making more ) for CalArts, but knowing that even if i do get in , and i wont be able to pay even for a year hurts more than the other way around.
I know its kind of silly but i want to ask for advice and opinions from you guys in Animatedbuzz , on what you think is the best step for me to take.
- sincerely Ben
