The world is your Life Drawing class. lol. In a way though it is. Well from what i've learned yoour sketchbook is your best friend. Take one with you whenever you can and just do tons and tons of observational drawings. If you have a large mirror do some self portraits of yourself. When you dont have option of going to classes you just need to be more creative. Theres only one life drawing class in my area, but theres also an open studio where anyone who pays can draw models, which i did for some of my previous portfolio. From what ive read from alot of people on here, and who've applied, you dont have to have a portfolio with nude drawings, you just need to show you understand movement of the figure and how everything works. Ask friends to pose on couch or chair and pay them if they want, lol. Just search around for options.
For books, there are a ton, but ones that i have are Walt Stanchfields, Drawn To Life. Also Mike Mattesi, Force: Dynamic Life Drawing for Animators. Those are very helpful and give great advice and tips on how to view and approach life drawing and observational drawing.
