Your life drawings are really impressive! You have a great quality in your work, it's like a nice blend of simple and more cartoon-like, and realistic. The figures are very compelling, they make me want to run out and draw!
I think you definitely have the skill to get in. However, as this year is my second time applying, I can tell you this: your figure drawings can be awesome, the best you can do, but a LOT of importance is placed on composition and color. your figures are great, but I would concentrate on coming up with an interesting. avant-garde way of placing them on the page.
Also, COLOR. You have some nice pieces, (I really liked the one with the skeleton) but adding just a splash of color to your figures would be a great improvement. When I was preparing my portfolio I would make sure to take a set of pastels to all of my figure drawing classes. I definitely recommend pastels for quick gestures, they really add something to your stuff!
Again, I really love your figures. You have some qualities in your work that I wish mine had! Keep up the awesome work. I would love to see more art from you! :)

I have some concept art in my sketchbook, (like character designs and environment sketches) I also included a couple of comic pages, that I didn't post pictures of. But I don't have any animation work. I've always sort of floundered when I think about doing it on my own. :(
As for digital art, I've not had very much practice doing it, so I wasn't very confidant in any of my work, certainly not confidant enough to put it in my portfolio!
I'm hoping that once I get more comfortable in the medium I'll have something worth posting! ^^
Thank you! I's nice to hear some real feedback!
And no, that isn't the order that I put it in in my portfolio(GOD NO) There is no rhyme or reason to the way I posted it here I just slapped it up there as fast as I could. Sorry! xD
Thank you for replying so quickly!
Yeah I've been trying to loosen up a little more with my drawing, which is one of the reasons I want to go to CalArts! It's a very fair point, I definitely could move away from the realistic. *so hard* HABITS. /lame/
I posted my portfolio (full pieces plus a few of my sketchbook pages) here a while ago, but I've finally got 'round to asking for a critique! I've sent it off and everything, but I'd like to hear what people think anyways, I might not get in this year, and I'd like to at least have an idea why!
Thanks so much guys. This is one of the only places I've put my work up where I think I might actually get some good feedback! :)
Sorry for the poor quality of the photos...
