From what I've heard, they really don't like to see that. If you're going to do it, probably keep it in the supplementary section. Again, though, I've heard conflicting stuff from people about what they like to see.

They don't require figure drawing per say - they just ask for 15+ "observational drawings". It just so happens that most people take this to mean figure drawing. My observational drawings (and I included exactly 15, by the way) were composed mostly of zoo drawings and drawings of crowds. I think they really like seeing unconventional portfolios, so definitely don't be afraid to go against the grain! Also, I would say don't draw from photos. They really hate to see that. All of your observational drawings need to be from life.  less

And I'm worried that I'll be overwhelmed by the workload or too intimidated by how awesome everyone else is to stay positive and be the best I can.

I did the CSSSA animation program (which is held at CalArts), and while it wasn't comparable to going to CalArts, it was a pretty big workload. But it was manageable! I'm usually a bit of a slacker but I ended up working my ass off just because I loved it so much. Hey, me and a couple friends who got accepted are trying to set up a skype session sometime soon with people that got accepted, so we can gab and get to know each other and stuff. Interested?  less

I didn't work as hard as I should have, mostly because I was so intimidated by everyone else's awesome, and I know that CalArts will be a lot harder, with people who are even more bomb, so I'm just hoping I'm stronger now and can get past all that and do my best!
