Aloha everyone! ^^/ My name is Nak, current CalArts student and I just wanted to add my two cents here. I had a breakdown moment on my first semester at CalArts. I was shaking from all the pressure and constantly thought about dropping out. It was intense and being surrounded by so many incredible talent, I just broke out and I couldn't even draw a stick figure for awhile. I got through my meltdown thanks to my wonderful classmates who constantly supported me and because I had college experience before coming to CalArts, I was able to pull myself together to draw again. As I reflected on my struggle, I couldn't imagine how I would have survived here if I haven't had years after high school exploring what Art and Animation was for me. Before CalArts, I was rejected by many art programs and even my parents told me everyday that I couldn't draw and that I should quit. But something inside me kept telling me that I was meant to make art. Don't let anyone stop you from pursuing your dream and keep working hard and support each other : - ] Character Animation alone receive around 400+ portfolios each year so it takes quite awhile for the faculty to get through them all and the faculty are working hard going through them so don't worry if you haven't got your letter yet! if you have any questions, feel free to contact me ^^; I don't log here often but here's my e-mail. knocknak@gmail.com Also Yon Hui Lee, and Jamie Tan are awesome people.
