What I got back was actually kinda generic and not particularly helpful, but his hands were tied. He seems like a super nice guy that is readily available, though. I'll take it. Every little bit helps. Thanks!

I'm curious - I know that people who didn't get accepted for the fall of 2011 had the option of a portfolio critique. Is the same option available to people who didn't get in for 2012, and who should I be following up with?

I'm so excited!

I would be going into character animation.   For the sake of an argument, I am assuming that I would be accepted if I were to apply.    Based on the research I've been doing, it seems that entry level animators (the ones that get jobs) make about $40K a year, and the career income would top out at $85K (outside of any books, side-merchandising, or creator owned properties that really very few have the luck and skill to achieve.)   So, I guess after a long ramble, my questions are: how accurate are these animator salary numbers? How many Calarts grads are able to find work in the field?  less

Tim McNulty Have you considered Animation Mentor? It's an amazing program and is recognized as a talent factory in the industry AND much cheaper than CalArts!
