You sort of  like,  inherit the creative earth.  You know what I mean? If you’re not dispossessed, why make art you know? If you’re not feeling pretty rejected and all that stuff. You probably just feel a little bit more content, and not have this need to save your life making something.”

Just another day in the world of adulthood where every dream you've ever had is stepped on time and time again. The karma wheel has to come around at some point. Just gotta keep stepping it up! because I'm on a serious kick, I'm sticking with my girl Fiona Apple. "If there was a better way to go it would find me. I just wake up the road rolls out behind me. I'd suggest calling or e-mailing around to schools you are interested in to find out what their general and/or program specific requirements are. Thoughroughly check their websites too. That kind of info can usually be found in FAQ. From what I remember...like a decade ago...SAT seemed more asked for in the western states and ACT in eastern. Plenty could have changed since then though...so I would just find out from each school directly.

I think there are some schools in London that excel in stopmotion... Good luck with your film! Did you finish the Gorey thing? That intro you posted was really nice. I called again last night only to ge the same answer I got two weeks ago, which was "we are trying to get all caught up in the next week or so" So essentially everytime I have called they say two weeks. I can only imagine how swamped they are...but oy! Hoping the rest of EA hears this week. @.@  less

One guy even said that sometimes not so great grades reflects well-I guess cause it shows that you have focused your energy more towards what you want to do. Other than that there is HUGE emphasis on the Artist Statement. HUGE. And of course the Portfolio is of the utmost important. They want to see how you think and how you approach your art; they want to get to know you and what you are about (through portfolio and statement) is what I was told.  less

Mary i want to ask you ,I know you got accepted by the school in Chicago, and if you don't make Calarts this year, will you go other school? or reapply next year? cause this is some kind of problem confusing me too.I have already turn down the oppotunity in USC cause they ask to pay the deposit in April 3rd, and i want to wait for the Calarts.   That sucks that you had to give USC your decision before you know about CalArts.  Girl I am pulling for you big time.  I think your work is so unique and beautiful!     I haven't applied anywhere else this year.  I got my first degree from Columbia College Chicago (in Theatre:Directing).  If I don't get in CalArts this year, my plan now is to move to Denver (maybe audit a few classes at UD) where I have many friends and the cost of living is much less than in Chicago.  There I will focus on putting together more work and apply f...    less
